Lesbian Break Up Loneliness A relationship is not the end-all be-all of life! We all experience moments of loneliness, whether we are in a loving relationship or not. It is simply an emptiness that comes from deep inside of us and it originates from not being able to truly understand and know ourselves. It is this depression that makes us aware of our own weakness as human beings. We do not need to justify our existence through our relationships, but we often do not know any other way. The key is to be happy with ourselves in - and out - of a relationship. If we cannot be satisfied and accepting of ourselves when we are not in a relationship, then no guy is ever going to want to be involved with us. Insecurity is often a turnoff, and we have to learn to love ourselves before we can gain the love of others. So, how do we beat the lonely blues? What do we do when the only thing that seems to be important to our existence is a relationship? There are many activities we can do that can take our mind off our dating woes - and the girl who may or may not have broken our hearts. Exercise Nothing makes a person happier then exercise, even when we do not realize we are happy. As the oxygen in our blood increases endorphins release - and so does the tension we feel. We begin to look and feel better about ourselves, and our insecurity is slowly able to melt away right along with our excess pounds! Exercise is important to physical health, so this is added benefit makes this one of the best activities you can do to beat the 'woe-relationship' blues. Additionally, exercising at the local gym is also a g-r-e-a-t way to make new friends. Perhaps you'll find someone with a common interest. This doesn't necessarily mean you need to hook up - especially since rebound relationships very seldom work out - but the flattery and flirting will do your damaged ego a world of good. Clubbing If you're younger there is nothing more invigorating, and more likely to blow your blues away, like a night on the town with a group of friends. You can show off your moves, be entertained by others dancing, and have a great time - especially if the clubbing scene is one you enjoy. Of course, not everyone is into clubbing, so this may not be your cup of tea. If it is, gather your closest girl and guy friends and head out to the nearest club. If it isn't, don't knock it until you really give it a good try with an open mind you may just find you love it! Depending on where you live you may be able to spend a good portion of the night bouncing clubs, and if your old enough you may also enjoy an ice cold beer, or a flavored drink, as you watch your friends enjoy themselves on the dance floor! Book/Poetry Reading If you're the intellectual type that isn't into the clubbing scene you may prefer a quiet night at the local bookstore, or coffee house, and Starbucks can be a terrific place to start! You can almost always find poetry and story readings if you know where they are held. Even if you've never been to one, if you enjoy reading - and even writing your own stories - then you will enjoy your time at a book or poetry reading. Additionally, the Borderland Blues Network is always looking for good content, so feel free to submit your story or articles and poems to us! You may just see it published on any one of our sites in the network :) ! Vegetate There is nothing quite as fun as cocooning up with your favorite guy pals, or girlfriends, for a fun evening at home. Make sure to get pints of Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream and either movies or your season's collection of Queer as Folk. You can spend the night talking, getting makeovers, checking out the hotties of QaF, and sharing your tales of woe about the woman/women that has/have broken your heart. Do not let your loneliness get the best of you. Just because you aren't with your girl anymore does not mean you aren't important. Before you bounce back into the dating arena you need to take some time for yourself. Spend time alone, reflecting on what didn't work and how you would handle yourself in a similar situation, or different situation in the future. There is only one way to prevent the same mistakes in future relationships and that is to not repeat them. Through your reflection you should find an inner peace. Only then can you move on to find the next woman of your dreams. HOME PAGE |
